Hatters - team time out

Brixton Topcats 46 (12, 21, 33) (Karumba 15, Jackson 10, Charles 9)
Westfield Health Sheffield Hatters 65 (16, 39, 54) (Gandy 17, Campbell 16, Thomas-Johnson 9)

Westfield Health Sheffield Hatters moved level with Team Northumbria in second place in the WBBL Championship after a comfortable 65-46 success at Brixton Topcats on Sunday.

Stephanie Gandy’s leadership was key once again, as her game-high 17 points drove the Sheffield club to a fifth straight victory.

After a tight opening period, the visitors pulled away in the second, outscoring their hosts 23-9, cranking up the pressure on defence.

James Vear’s side stuck with it and slowed their opponents down in the second half as Mrashi Karumba provided their principal scoring threat – finishing with 15 points – but Hatters had already put themselves in too good a position to squander their advantage.

Hatters remain well in the hunt for the WBBL Championship title while Topcats have now taken just one win from their opening eight league games.
