The trio of Helen Naylor, Lauren Thomas-Johnson and Steph Gandy combined for 62 points, as Westfield Health Sheffield Hatters routed Team Northumbria 104-66 at home at the All Saints Sports Centre to improve to a 7-1 record in the WBBL Championship, while the visitors dropped to 6-2.
Despite a great start from Team Northumbria, neither side managed to break away in the opening period, with the visitors establishing a marginal 21-19 lead. However, three big three pointers from Thomas-Johnson, who had 16 points in the first half, shifted the momentum, with Hatters storming in front with a great second quarter to take a 53-34 advantage at the halftime break.
The hosts continued their impressive display of basketball in the second half, increasing the margin to 82-52 by the end of the third quarter and cruising to a comfortable win in the final frame.
Helen Naylor led all scorers with 23 points, Lauren Thomas-Johnson added 20, while Steph Gandy chipped in with 19 for the Hatters. Meanwhile, Kayla Mobley collected a team-high 20 points for Team Northumbria.
