The Hatters under 14’s made the long journey to the south lakes to take on Barrow on Sunday. The Hatters made a good start getting a quick three baskets without reply, Barrow tightened their defense making it harder for the Hatters to score, but the Hatters experience came to the fore, with them pulling out to a 18-6 lead at the end of the 1st quarter.
A strong second quarter by the Hatters, with some excellent performances from the less experienced players helped to extend the Hatters lead at the end of the half, the score finishing 33-11.
Barrow came out strong for the third quarter, playing some good offence eventually edging the quarter 13-11 the end of quarter score finishing 44-18 to the Hatters.
The fourth quarter saw the hatters stamp there authority on the game with some powerful offensive play from Allen, Knowles, Mckerrow, and Southwell and strong defense from Matewe, Gwenero and Bailey-Taylor, the end of quarter score finishing with the Hatters scoring 20 points to Barrows 4.
A special mention must go to the Hatters less experienced players many of them competing in their first national league season, all of whom received plenty of court time and all acquitted themselves admirably, with Catherine Gwenero’s 10 points a season high for her, full team and scorers were,
