9/11/2014 – Bury v Hatters – Division 2

Hatters breezed past Bury Blue Devils at the weekend in their first round of the Women’s Division 2 National Trophy Competition winning 73 – 49. It proved to be a good team performance in the end, after recovering from a slow start in the first quarter.

Top scorers for Hatters were Maria Colom 18, Georgia Gayle 13 and Jo Lowry 13. Hatters now face Loughborough Riders II in the next round at All Saints on the weekend of 6/7 Dec.

9/11/2014 – Barrow v Hatter U14s

The Hatters under 14’s made the long journey to the south lakes to take on Barrow on Sunday. The Hatters made a good start getting a quick three baskets without reply, Barrow tightened their defense making it harder for the Hatters to score, but the Hatters experience came to the fore, with them pulling out to a 18-6 lead at the end of the 1st quarter.

9/11/2014 – Hatters v Cheshire U18s Cup

The first round of the cup for the U18’s resulted in an emphatic victory at home v Cheshire Panthers. The first quarter began with a 26-0 unanswered run by the Hatters behind high pressure defence causing Cheshire to make turnovers and Hatters to make the most of their fast break opportunities. Helen Naylor is raring to go ahead of a WBBL super Saturday

After being without a game last weekend, the Hatters are back in action with a home game against Sevenoaks Suns tomorrow on a busy day of action, with no fewer than five games taking place.

1/11/2014 – Hatters v Manchester Mystics U14s

The first real test for the Hatters under 14’s came when the unbeaten Manchester Mystics visited All Saints.

The Hatters girls put on a spirited performance against a more experienced Manchester side, with the Hatters only having three players with any significant national league experience, never the less hatters pushed Manchester all the way, but never really recovered from a 2nd quarter littered with mistakes, the half finishing with the Hatters 36-22 down.

The Girls camp coached by GB Womens player Lauren Thomas-Johnson on Tuesday was a great success, with girls travelling from all over Yorkshire to attend.

Lauren an accomplished England international at cadette, Under-16 and Under-18 levels, stepping up to Under-20 level with Great Britain in the 2007 European Championship, averaging an impressive 17 ppg. Moving to the USA to progress her basketball career in 2004. leading Kirkwood to back-to-back NJCAA Tournament championships in 2007 and 2008 and was MVP in 2008. Joining Sheffield ...

Thanks to everyone who came to our annual race night on Monday, we raised more money on the night than we have ever done before.

25/10/2014 – Hatters v Stockport 1 U14s

City of Sheffield Hatters under 14’s took on an unbeaten Stockport 1 at All Saints on Saturday.

Hatters made a great start and finished the first quarter 19-6 up, this was without Jess Southwell who had to be benched early having received 3 quick fouls.

The second quarter followed a similar pattern with some good defensive pressure applied to the Stockport offence, providing a number of turnovers, Hatters finishing 30-13 up.
