Straight from tip-off, the opposition were off to the races with Hatters consistently attempting to stop the ball. Div 2 were able to start hustling a bit more and increase the intensity on defence. Unfortunately, a few back doors lead to easy baskets. Hatters v Stockport Lapwings -Division 2

The game started off very quick paced clearly surprising Div 2 with frequent baskets being made from Lapwings as soon as the ball was tipped. Hatters continued to try and break down their offence, however, defensive errors allowed them to win the first quarter 11-22. Being Div 2’s first game of the new year, the game started off slowly with Div 2 allowing the opposition to gain several baskets in advance. Fortunately, Hatters picked up the pace and were able to gain a lead in the first quarter. Derbyshire Diamonds v Hatters -Division 2

The first quarter of the match started of with Derbyshire in the lead, most likely due to Hatters being slightly nervous. However, Div 2 fought back and won the first quarter. During the second quarter, Hatters fell behind slightly fouling the opposition on occasions and finding it difficult to defend the post players under the basket. The first half ended 34-32.

Division 2’s game against Lancashire Spinners started off slow with Div 2 in the lead by a few points with many baskets coming from Ava and fast breaks causing the defence to crumble. Confidence rose greatly during the second quarter allowing Div 2 players to create opportunities and draw fouls from the other team. Hatters v Stockport – Division 2

Div 2 started off strong with great offensive and defensive rebounds from the whole team allowing us to run the lanes for easy baskets and gain the lead 7-12.

Div 2 remained sharp in the second quarter forcing Stockport to try harder on collecting rebounds. A few fouls near the end of quarter allowed Stockport to gain a few more points so that they were trailing behind 6 points.
