Action begins early this week as the WBBL team leave Sheffield this evening to make the long journey North to Scotland.  Hopefully after a good nights sleep they will be ready to play Caledonia at 1.00pm on Saturday and get a win before making the journey back.

Meanwhile the junior teams have home games for their first round playoffs.  On Saturday the U16s face Lancashire Spinners Bury for a 1.30pm tip at All Saints.  Then on Sunday the U14s welcome Tameside ...

Southend v Hatters U16s

Our trip to Southend on sea began firstly with a trip to the seafront and then the game with a close first half. The quarter ended 19-19.

The second half started a lot more positively with some good offensive plays creating a small lead after a few minutes.
They continued to play with intensity and finally pulled away from Southend ending the first half 44-28

A sluggish start to the third quarter lets Southend come back into the game.

Hatters v Manchester – U16s

Hatters v Manchester

The first quarter was closely contended throughout with both teams playing hard and fast. A good defensive steal ended the quarter 13-10 to Hatters.

The girls continued to work hard in the second quarter pulling away 21-16 with 7 mins gone. Unfortunately Manchester had a short burst of energy scoring a 3 pt to close the gap taking the second quarter 23-24

There are 5 games this weekend as Div 2 Hallam Hatters play twice.  They begin on Saturday with a 12noon tip v Derbyshire Gems at All Saints.  Alongside them the U14s also have a 12noon tip v Tameside Royals. Hatters v Sevenoaks – U16s

Hatters had a difficult start in a fast paced game. After 7 mins the score was 4-13 the first quarter finally ending 7-19

Second quarter starts and after 5 mins the score is 11-24. The girls worked hard to claw the score back with some impressive shooting by Ashante Richards, to finish the quarter 26-25

In the third quarter hatters maintained a good performance and the game was even all the way through ending in a 40-40 draw

Welcome to another busy weekend of basketball for the Hatters.  All 4 National League teams are in action over the weekend and three of the games are at our home court (All Saints).

On Saturday the U14s welcome Nottingham Wildcats for a 12noon tip. When the Hatters travelled to Nottingham at the end of November they lost 55-38.  They will be hoping to show that their hard work in practice has resulted in improvement.  Then at 3pm the WBBL side face ...
