The second All Saints Community Fun Day took place at All Saints School sports hall on Sunday 13/07/2014. Organised by Sheffield Hatters basketball club with the assistance of Community Games UK and a special guest appearance from Sheffield’s former World Light Middleweight Boxing champ Paul ‘Silky’ Jones, the day offered an opportunity for people of all ages to participate in sporting and cultural activities. Tipping off with the monthly basketball Central Venue League, which gives youngsters a first experience of playing an actual match, the day also included face painting, loom band making, Indian dancing and a highly competitive parents v kids Rounders match. The closing ceremony saw ‘Silky’ Jones handing out prizes and certificates to everyone who had taken part. Sheffield Hatters are hoping to build on the success of the day and establish the Fun Day as a regular event on the summer festival calendar. Paul ‘Silky’ Jones was impressed with the day’s events and has since taken on something of an ambassadorial role for the Hatters. “After witnessing at first hand all the great work that’s being done to keep the Hatters afloat, I will not rest until they get some much needed funding”.
