City of Sheffield Hatters U14s tipped off the season with an outstanding 72-32 win over Stockport Lapwings. A fairly young hatters squad with a few new players all wanting to start the season off with a bang fell behind early on, Hatters took a 4 point lead into the 2nd quarter. By the start of the second half the lead had increased to 17 and a superb 31-6 3rd quarter meant victory was inevitable. With several changes made in the last quarter, Stockport were able to slightly reduce the deficit but the damage was already done. Hatters now go into a run of 6 away games with confidence for the season ahead. Coach Becci Parker says’ I am very im pressed with the way the girls played today it took us a while as usual to get into the game, something which we will be working on but over all a very impressive and pleasing start to the season. I hope that on our next home game which isn’t until January we can shock the home crowd at how much we are going to improve’
