Hatters u16s teamThe first home match of the day on Saturday for Sheffield Hatters saw the under 16 team take on the Bury Blue Devils. From early in the first quarter the win wasn’t in doubt enabling Coach Dave Neath to give all his players good court time Jo Lowry led the team to the 71-41 victory scoring 14. Milly Dooley and Zoe Silcock scored 10 each, Molly Axelby and Eleanor Neath  8 a piece and JD Quinnn  chipped in 7.
This match proved to be an excellent warm up for 3 of the under 16 players Jo Lowry, Molly Axelby and Eleanor Goodwin who immediately after kitted up to help the under 18 Hatters team beat their arch rivals Manchester Mystics. Again the team combined to score 71 to Manchester’s 65, this was then followed by a victory by Div 1.

The Hatters u16s then travelled the long journey up to Barrow in Furness on Sunday 17th November. The first quarter was a close affair with the home team just edging it 18-17, albeit with many Hatters picking up fouls. The second quarter remained tight although the Hatters went into half time 33-35 ahead. Hatters ran ahead on a 8-0 unanswered streak to begin the third quarter and forced Barrow into a time-out.
They came back all guns firing and surged ahead to a 57-51 lead, while Hatters had had starting five and influential rebounded Courtney Bennett fouled out of the game. Hatters never regained the lead and ended up with Eleanor Goodwin also fouled out and Millie Dooley was given a technical foul for asking the referee to call it both ends. A disappointing result for the u16 girls, however they will take a lot from this loss and hopefully come back stronger than ever. Final score 76-70.
