Here is the match report from Sheffield Hatters under 18s vs Charnwood.
Sheffield Hatters under 18s had a top of the table clash against Charnwood college riders. Before the Christmas break the Hatters had 8 wins and 3 losses and Charnwood had 7 wins and 1 loss. All to play for today.
The Hatters started off well scoring straight from the tip but it was quickly counteracted by a lovely 3 point shot. The 1st quarter finished 12 v 25 to Charnwood.
The girls started to move the ball a lot better in the 2nd quarter, this made for a more expansive end to end game, but once again Charnwood caught us on the counter. At halftime the score was 24 vs 41 to Charnwood.
The Hatters girls came out after halftime and showed there grit and determination and put on a lovely defensive show allowing them to pick and intercept the ball around the halfway line and counter. The 3rd quarter ended 42 vs 56 to Charnwood.
The girls got to within 10 points of Charnwood in the 4th quarter and it looked like they had the momentum to go on and win it but Charnwoods strength and quality held out and they won 49 vs 72.
The top scorer today was Tash on 14 points made up of 7 rebounds.
