Hatters v Manchester – U16s

Posted by:

Having unfortunately lost their last two league games, the Sheffield Hatters started the game with a new attitude and team tactics against one of their biggest competitors ‘Manchester Mystics’. The first quarter was extremely close with great offensive plays from both teams  finishing at 23-24. The second quarter was intense as the Sheffield supporters made huge noise as hatters worked hard on court. Several contributions were made from the players, especially from the top scorers of the game Whitehouse and Fallon. The second quarter then ended at 40-47. Although the game difference had increased, the Hatters were not giving up. They gave a fantastic performance in the 3rd quarter, locking down on defence and dominating on offence including Jokonya scoring her 2nd 3 pointer of the game. Sheffield took the lead ending the quarter with a score of 63-61.    The energy level on and off court on the sidelines was extremely high all through the 4th quarter. The two teams continued battling it out for victory with all their might. Edobor provided great defence for the Hatters. It got to the last 30 seconds and Hatters were in possession. The 5 players on court kept excellent control of the ball running down the clock until they scored a basket giving hatters a 2 point lead with 7 seconds remaining. A guard from Mystics suddenly drove the ball down the court charging at the basket with speed, but due to good communication on defence the Hatters stopped the player from scoring. The buzzer went with a score of 81-79, the Sheffield Hatters had claimed an incredible victory.
