Hatters v Newcastle – U18s

Posted by:

Today Sheffield Hatters under 18s came up against a Newcastle Eagles side that had won 3 of their last 5 matches in the National League. The Hatters girls came out and put on a very strong defensive performance winning the ball back quickly and then turning defense into attack with some lovely passing taking the 1st quarter 19 v 10. The second quarter was a little bit stop start not really allowing the girls to play the fast break basketball they like to play. The girls went into halftime 29 v 21 up. In the 3rd quarter the girls went back to playing like they did in the 1st quarter with slick passing, excellent defense and lovely finishing. The 3rd quarter ended 54 v 27. The 4th quarter was fairly equal both teams scored 16 points, there was a flurry of 3 pointers from both sides throughout the match. The final score ended 70 v 43 to the Hatters. The top scorer today was Catherine Gwenero on 12 points made up of 6 attacking rebounds.

The Under 18s next match is against Stockport Lapwings at All Saints tip at 12pm.

As part of the girls membership with the Sheffield Hatters the girls have to partake in fundraising. One of the ways the under 18 girls have decided to do this is by selling Tropic Skin Care Products. 15% of each sale made is kindly been donated to the Sheffield Hatters Charity by Louise Buckley, an ambassador for Tropic Skin Care. All products are chemical free and paragon free. They are particularly good for vegans and people who are gluten intolerant. The products will make excellent gifts for friends and relatives. Booklets from Tropic will be distributed to each team soon and the products will be available to test on November 19th at All Saints when Westfield Health Sheffield Hatters take on Cardiff Met Archers tipping at 2pm.
