Today Sheffield Hatters under 18s came up against Stockport Lapwings kicking off the second round of matches in the league. Stockport Lapwings have won 4 of their last 7 matches and sit third in the National League table.
The girls put on a very strong defensive display again today restricting Stockport to just 4 points in the first quarter whilst capitalising at the other end with quick movement and strong drives taking the 1st quarter 17 points to 4. The 2nd quarter was a carbon copy of the first quarter meaning that the Hatters went in to halftime leading 34 to 9. The Hatters came out after halftime and really pressed the Stockport offense causing them to make a few mistakes and be on team fouls 2 mins 30 into the 3rd quarter. The girls regularly gained control of the ball in Stockports half taking the 3rd quarter 52 v 17. The lapwings had a resurgent 4th quarter scoring a lovely 3 pointer that was quickly counter acted by a fantastic 3 pointer from Jess. The final score ended 74 v 30 to the Hatters. The top scorer today was Ava Patchesa on 15 points. The 15 points was made up of 3 free throws and a mixture of lovely layups and jump shots. The under 18s next match is in the National Cup. The girls have a quarter final cup tie at All Saints on Sunday 26th November tipping at 3pm against Oakland College Wolves.
