City of Leeds v Sheffield Hatters U12 20/10/18

Another away game, another convincing win for the U12’s.  Although they got off to a slow start with Leeds taking the first points of the game the Hatters soon got into their stride with Daisy opening the account with back to back points, quickly followed by Charmaine, Nella, Dina and Izzy.

Nella wrapped up the opening quarter with a block and then was fouled on the breakaway, scoring from the foul line to finish the quarter with a 22-4 lead.

The second quarter saw Eve and Marley driving the points home whilst the whole team played solid defence to go on a 12-0 run.  Coach Gayle kept up the pressure with a timely rotation of the team with Isabel and Juliet extending the lead as the girls closed the half 48-10.

Leeds came out strong in the third quarter as the Hatters gave up some easy baskets but maintained their lead to the end of the quarter 59-19.

A pep talk from Coach Gayle did the trick as the girls were dominant under both baskets in the fourth quarter. Alicia and Charmaine had their best scoring spells and were tough in defence, breaking up several Leeds attacks.

It was a strong all-round team performance with every player adding to the score sheet to give the 12’s an 84-27 win.
