Newcastle Eagles v Hatters – U18s

Posted by:

On Saturday 27th February, the Hatters U18’s made the long trip up to Newcastle for their last away game of the regular season. Despite the long journey they came out firing with a 9-0 run to begin the game and their dominance continued for the quarter leading to a 28-11 advantage behind 11 points from Eleanor Goodwin. The highlight of the quarter was a spectacular under pressure swished shot from Beth Rutherford to beat the 24 second clock. The second quarter was a lower scoring affair but the Hatters only increased their lead going into the locker room ahead at 45-19. Taking the foot off the gas in the third quarter meant that Newcastle won the quarter – however a basket from JD Quinn meant that all the Hatters players were now on the scoresheet! The last quarter began with Hatters 61-37 up, and they only continued building up their lead to come away with a 83-45 victory.
A special mention must go to JD Quinn who took a mammoth 17 rebounds behind some solid boxing out.
Scorers:
Eleanor Goodwin 24
Jo Lowry 21
Courtney Bennett 14
Molly Axelby 13
Beth Rutherford 4
JD Quinn 3
Zoe Silcock 3
Arianna Fox 2
