We sent a team to Leeds to compete their winter CVL league, it was great experience for the girls, many of whom have not played competitive basketball before.
Sheffield Hatters and All Saints (our facility partner) have received funding from Move More Sheffield Small Sparks………THIS SHEFFIELD GIRL CAN (linked to the wider campaign – This Girl Can funded by Sport England).
Sheffield Hatters Under 14’s won the Leeds Carnegie U14 Girls Summer CVL.
Having a number of players on holiday and with 2 players who are new to the game and had only ever played a couple of games before we knew it would be a tough afternoon with only 4 points splitting Hatters, Bury and Lapwings at the start of the day.
Hatters first game was against Bury, who came away with a shock win beating Hatters by 1 point.

Winning CVL U14s Hatters Team from 14th June
On Saturday 14th June 2014 Leeds Carnegie hosted a five team round 3 of the Summer 2014 U14 Girls central venue league at LMU Arena featuring Sheffield Hatters, Stockport Lapwings, Bury Blue Devils, North Yorkshire and Leeds Carnegie with Sheffield jumping above Bury in the overall league table. MONTHLY BASKETBALL COMPETITION FOR UNDER 12′s
This is a friendly local initiative which provides an introduction to basketball competition. It is also suitable for young apprentice officials to train and gain experience, and for new coaches to get involved with the sport. Everyone signs up to the developmental ethos to ensure that the players have an enjoyable experience, to help encourage them to take up the sport and continue with their basketball at club level.
