Basketball vs Netball

Posted by:

Cause this had to happen at some point.

For all my American peeps, you need to know what netball is before you can really get into this post. Well, because I still don’t know how to explain the sport, wikipedia it. Thanks.

Anyways, netball sort of dominates the hoop sports in this country for women, what I mean by that is, of all the primary schools I have coached at so far, 3 have had basketball hoops and all of them have ...

Accents

Posted by:

A question I get a lot from British people is if I can understand their accents or if I like them. Most of the time if I try hard enough I can catch the gist of what people are saying if they aren’t speaking too fast. Usually I kind of just stand there with a smile on my face and nod my head as if I know what’s going on. No one should feel bad, I do the same thing ...

Injury Update

Posted by:

Before I give my injury update, I need to speak about the awful tragedy that took place today. After sitting in the editing suite at Hallam for 7 and a half hours, I walked out of the university to find myself in a blizzard (and by blizzard I mean it was snowing regularly and not sticking to the ground). I was carrying two cameras, a tripod and a stereo microphone so I could bless every one on Tuesday with some ...

I Forget Things, A Lot

Posted by:

I have an decent memory. I also think I blank out a lot. Sometimes when people are speaking to me. I can’t help it, my mind loves to wander. So here are some of the things I forget.

Birthdays & Anniversaries: Sorry Mom & Dad. Every year two days before my parents anniversary I say to myself, “Sabe, your parents anniversary is in two days, do NOT forget to call/text and tell them.” Sure enough, the day of, I completely forget ...

Snow Day :(

Posted by:

If you know me, you know I don’t like snow. Anytime I wake up and look outside and see snow, I know that my day is not going to go the way I want it, unless I stay inside. With that being said, I had a great day yesterday.

I woke up at 8am. I know, amazing right? I had to get to the bus to head to Uni, which was not fun. Cold toes…brrrrr. I spent from 9 am to ...

You Play Basketball?

Posted by:

Hello again. Finally, I’ve handed in all my work. I am supposed to be sleep right now because I slept a total of three hours after printing and arranging all my work last night. However, since my brain likes to sleep when it feels like it (particularly when someone is giving me driving directions), I have decided to share with everyone some of the things people say to me when they find out I play basketball.

1. I am going to ...

The Art of Procratination

Posted by:

This past summer I started reading a book called The Art of Procrastination. After reading the chapter on how to take naps randomly during the day, it be came clear to me that I was a professional at this so I closed the book and started reading Time Management for Dummies (ironically, still haven’t found the time to finish that one).

So here I am living amongst the hills of Sheffield working on a masters course, playing basketball (when not injured), ...

Language Barriers

Posted by:

When I tell people I am playing basketball in England they always do one of two things: Ask me if they speak English in England (the answer is in the question), or they say “Cheerio mate” to which I reply “except they don’t actually say cheerio”.

It has been nice playing in England though because there isn’t a real big language barrier, but let’s be honest, a lot of the things we say in America are not the same over here. ...
